VILLE PLATTE- Funeral Services will be held at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial for Bernella Deville Fontenot, 85, at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church on Friday, January 26, 2018, who passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Mercy Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones.

Father Guidry, Pastor at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, will be celebrating the mass and conducting the funeral services.

Burial will take place in the Te-Mamou Cemetery.

Born March 19, 1932 to Guillium and Leisa Deville, she grew up on her family's farm where she spent most of her time helping out in the cotton fields. Bernella raised quail on her quail farm, and worked at Bill's Dollar Store for over 18 years. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and quilting. Bernella had a passion for photography. She enjoyed taking pictures and always had a camera in her hand. Her greatest love was the love she had for her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Her memories will live on through her family. Bernella is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Gussie Fontenot of St. Landry; daughters, Sandra Fontenot Lavergne and husband L.C. of St. Landry and Wilda Fontenot Stickells and husband Jimmy of Echo; sons, Michael K. Fontenot and wife Sandra of Kenneth City, FL, Ronald J. Fontenot and wife Cathy of Highland, CA, and Daniel Fontenot and wife Phyllis of St. Landry; brothers, Butler J. Deville of Colton, CA, Frank Deville of Ville Platte, and Terrell Deville of Ruston; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Bernella is preceded in death by her parents Guillium and Leisa Shuff Deville; and her daughter, Judy Fontenot.

The family request that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Ville Platte on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM. A rosary will be recited by Deacon Ben Soileau at 6:30 PM on Thursday, January 25, 2018. Visitation will resume Friday from 9:00 AM until time of service.
