VILLE PLATTE It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Altha Marie Duplechain Doucet, 97, announces her passing on Friday morning, January 24, 2014 she was at home surrounded by members of her beloved family when she peacefully left this world to join her Savior in the next. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Ardoins Funeral Home Chapel of Ville Platte Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 11:00 AM Rite of Committal will follow in the Old Ville Platte Cemetery. Father Joe Breaux will act as Celebrant for all services.
A devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Altha will be deeply mourned by her three children: Dale Doucet and his wife, Mary Ann of Opelousas, Mark Doucet and his wife, Mindy of Ville Platte and Maxine Pudge Doucet of New Orleans. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her five precious grandchildren and her seven great grandchildren they were her greatest joy.
Altha was a kind and compassionate soul, she not only devoted her life to the care and well being of her family, she also devoted a great deal of her life to the care and well being of others. Her calling was the profession of nursing, she was one of the first home health nurses in Evangeline parish. Altha also worked at Attaway Hospital, Ville Platte General and our local nursing home she faithfully served others until the age of seventy seven years, only because of her own ailments, would she give up her devotion to care for the sick and feeble.
At the request of the Doucet family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home of Ville Platte beginning at 4:00 PM Friday, January 24, 2014 and will continue until 8:00 PM that evening and again at 8:00 AM Saturday morning and go on until the time of the Funeral Mass. A Rosary will be recited, in her honor, at 5:30 PM Friday evening.
