Adam Pascal Reed, Jr., a beloved farmer, devoted husband, and compassionate foster parent, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024 at the age of 89 in Ville Platte, Louisiana. He was born on Tuesday, November 13, 1934, in Evangeline Parish and lived a life rich in love, service, and commitment to his community and family.
Adam's love story began at the Ville Platte City Pool, where he met the love of his life, Anna Juanetta Reed. Their union in marriage in 1955 marked the start of a beautiful journey together that spanned an incredible 69 years. Together they raised three sons, instilling values of kindness and hard work that will carry on through generations. He strived to teach his family how to live off the land and to appreciate the peacefulness of country life.
For over thirty years, Adam was a dedicated foster parent, opening his heart and home to children in need. His selflessness extended beyond parenting; he also offered guidance as a marriage encounter counselor, assisting couples in navigating their relationships with understanding and care.
Adam's deep commitment to his community was displayed through his active involvement in local organizations. He served as a Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus and was a proud member of the Farm Bureau and the Evangeline Parish Co-op. His dedication to farming went hand in hand with his love for the land, which was evident in his gardening—a hobby that brought him immense joy. An avid outdoorsman, Adam also enjoyed hunting and fishing, activities that allowed him to connect with nature.
Adam will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his wife, Juanetta Reed; three sons, Tim Reed (Lisa), Mike Reed (Anne), and Joey Reed (Jennifer); and 12 grandchildren, Tim, Jr., Adam, Faith, Marshall, McAruther, Louis, Pierre, Antoinette, Jeremy, Leanna, Gavin, and Colin. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his six great grandchildren, Dawson, Brittany, AJ, Ryan, Erica, and Patrick; one great great grandchild, Karson; sister, Armentine Soileau; and the “best dog ever”, Pee Wee.
Adam is preceded in death by his parents, Pascal Reed, Sr. and Edvice Landreneau Reed; granddaughters, Grace and Ava Reed; sister, Lydie Reed Fontenot; and brother, Robert Reed.
A visitation for Adam will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte, with a rosary being recited at 5:00 PM.
