VILLE PLATTE - Funeral services will be held at a 2:30 PM Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Friday, May 17, 2019 for Rodney "Polo" Manuel, 85, who passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at his residence in Ville Platte surrounded by family.
Father Dubroc will be celebrant of the Mass and conduct funeral services.
Burial will take place in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery.
Rodney "Polo" Manuel was born in Ville Platte on September 15, 1933 to Clemant Manuel and Odette Deville Manuel. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Polo was a very faithful man who loved his family dearly. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing his harmonica, and sharing his home-grown satsumas with family and friends. He had a passion for his work which was residential painting. Polo married Vana Duos and they spent 64 years together raising their family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Polo is survived by his daughters, Judy Darbonne and husband Andrew, Connie Fontenot and husband John, and Tammy Veillon and husband Mitch; grandchildren, Marty Veillon and wife Haley, Taylor Fontenot and wife Morgan Blair, Alex Veillon and wife Erin, Dylan Fontenot, Morgan Lain Fontenot, and Zachary Veillon and wife Hali; great grandchildren, Parker Veillon, and Bennett Veillon; and brother Iway Manuel.
He is preceded in death by his wife Vana Duos Manuel, parents, Clemant Manuel and Odette Deville Manuel, and sisters Camelia M. Joubert, Lou Ella M. Fontenot, and Clamece M. Reed.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Ville Platte on Friday, May 17 from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM. A rosary will be recited Friday at 1:30 PM by Father Mitch Guidry.
